PRIMAVERA VALDEZ

(AMHA #74144) (CMHC) (ABRA)   1979  15.1 Stallion
Bred by Mohican Farms / Dick and Phyliss Nelsen

" Primavera Valdez"  golden buckskin stallion lives up to to the California tradition of the "gold" discovered so many years ago in the same region that Valdez now lives.

Gold - has come to denote highest value and quality.  The same carries over in the horse breeding industry where the golden coat color is so highly prized when it periodically occurs in the Morgan breed.  It is a wonderful gift and a bonus that can add greatly to the value of the horse. Valdez is the same irridescent gold color as the golden coin of the past. He produces these golden colors in over 50% of his foals as buckskins or palomino offspring. Valdez's bloodlines trace to all 100% Western Working Families. After examination of his six generation report, Brenda Tippin (author of many WWF articles for The Morgan Horse) reported, "There are very few living Morgans which have that many sirelines to Justin Morgan that close, especially the main ones".

Valdez has championships in reining and working cow horse classes.  He was the first Morgan stallion to be donated to NRHA Sire and Dam Program "Honor Roll Stallion" which has sold for four consecutive years. He earned the Grand Championship Buckskin Stallion at an ABRA Show under an ABRA open judge, qualified as Sutter County Sheriff Department Park Patrol Mount and served as the horse chosen for the  memorial ceremony for a member in CMCHA and flag carrier.  He loves to work cattle and is used as a herd holder/ turnback horse at cuttings and team pennings.

Valdez's offspring are performing in reining, three day eventing, park patrols at Point Reyes, CA and Sutter County, CA, working cow horses, ranch work including roping, cutting and professional rodeo pickup horses. PKR Double Trouble was trained  by Bob Loomis of Marietta, OK.  One of his palomino daughters will be debuting in fox hunting in Arizona. In the past two years Valdez offspring have been at least 75% "colored" or dun factored foals.
